Gas Fires, where we bring you a blend of traditional warmth and modern convenience. We are proud to offer an extensive selection of gas fires, catering to diverse tastes and requirements. Gas fires provide an excellent alternative to traditional wood fires, combining ease of use with efficient heating and aesthetic appeal. Here’s a closer look at the types and benefits of choosing a gas fire for your home.

Types of Gas Fires

1. Inset Gas Fires: Perfect for those who want a gas fire that fits into an existing fireplace. Inset gas fires are designed to be installed within a fireplace opening, providing a seamless look with efficient heating.

2. Outset Gas Fires: These are freestanding units that sit outside the fireplace. Outset gas fires are great for high efficiency and are often easier to install. They can be positioned on a hearth or wall-mounted.

3. High-Efficiency Gas Fires: Designed for those who prioritize energy efficiency. These models offer a higher heat output with less gas usage, making them a cost-effective and eco-friendly option.

4. Balanced Flue Gas Fires: Ideal for homes without a traditional chimney. Balanced flue gas fires are vented directly through an external wall, ensuring safety and efficiency.

5. Flueless Gas Fires: These innovative gas fires don’t require a chimney or flue, making them versatile for installation in various locations around the home. They use catalytic technology to clean the air, ensuring safety and compliance with ventilation regulations.

Gas Fire: Any gas installation in a UK home must be handled by an experienced gas engineer approved by GasSafe. This evidence of competence relates only to matters of gas safety and is obtained by every engineer through a recognised route of training and assessment (much as the DVLA issues driving licences to those who have demonstrated their competence by passing a driving test). We can provide details of a GasSafe team that has installed our products many times and handle all of the booking for you.

How many fires do you have on display?

As of now, we have 400+ fires and 60+ mediawalls on live display in our showroom. This number can change month to month as we’re continuously producing more, replacing displays with new and updating existing displays. If you need to know if we have something specific on display please give us a call.

What are outset and inset gas fires?

Inset gas fires are installed into the wall whilst outset gas fires are installed onto the hearth in a chamber. We have a wide selection of gas fires on live display in our showroom, alongside many hearth and chamber options.

Can I use my fire as a primary heat source?

We do not recommend replacing your home’s internal heating system with a wood-burning stove, electric fire, or gas fire. All fires of this kind are classed as a secondary heat source. Whilst these fires can be used to heat your room, we recommend that you always have a functioning primary heat source. Electric fires for example, only produce up to 2kw of heat output which is enough to get your living room nice and cosy but when used for extended periods may lead to damage.

Do you offer any bottled gas LPG?

No, we do not sell any LPG fires or bottled gas.

What is my warranty period?

Your warranty period can vary depending on the brand of the product and the individual product itself. Most warranties are held with the manufacturer and not Washington Fireplaces. All items come with a standard 12-month warranty but many products offer extended 2-year warranties, or 10-year warranties with conditions such as proof of a yearly service. Some extended warranties after some time may only cover the cost of parts and not installation. We will provide you with warranty terms in our showroom for a specific product. All products that are manufactured by Washington Fireplaces come with a standard 12 months parts warranty.

Do you supply Bio-Ethanol fires?

We do not stock, fit, or sell any bio-ethanol fires. This is because we they provide less heat than wood alternatives, the fuel is more expensive, its corrosiveness, low flame luminosity, and lower vapor pressure (making cold starts difficult). We believe that overall there are better options available.

Can I see the gas fires in operation before purchasing?

Absolutely! We encourage you to visit our showroom where you can see various models in operation, assess their features, and choose the one that best fits your needs and preferences. Our amazing team can assist you with your project. Open 7 days a week.

Can I control the heat output of a gas fire?
