Electric Fires

How many fires do you have on display?

As of now, we have 400+ fires and 60+ mediawalls on live display in our showroom. This number can change month to month as we’re continuously producing more, replacing displays with new and updating existing displays. If you need to know if we have something specific on display please give us a call.

Can I use my electric fires heat setting for long periods?

A heating system such as a mediawall electric heater does not replace your existing home heating. They are designed as supplementary heaters only and using them for long periods may lead to damage. All electric heaters have a max of 2kw heat output, which is not enough to heat a home. Of course, the light settings and flame effects can be used for a for a much longer time, we recommend you switch them off at night just to save energy.

Can I use my fire as a primary heat source?

We do not recommend replacing your home’s internal heating system with a wood-burning stove, electric fire, or gas fire. All fires of this kind are classed as a secondary heat source. Whilst these fires can be used to heat your room, we recommend that you always have a functioning primary heat source. Electric fires for example, only produce up to 2kw of heat output which is enough to get your living room nice and cosy but when used for extended periods may lead to damage.

What is my warranty period?

Your warranty period can vary depending on the brand of the product and the individual product itself. Most warranties are held with the manufacturer and not Washington Fireplaces. All items come with a standard 12-month warranty but many products offer extended 2-year warranties, or 10-year warranties with conditions such as proof of a yearly service. Some extended warranties after some time may only cover the cost of parts and not installation. We will provide you with warranty terms in our showroom for a specific product. All products that are manufactured by Washington Fireplaces come with a standard 12 months parts warranty.

Why has the mist on my fire stopped?

Some electric fires have a realistic smoke function that uses water to create mist/steam. Some models require you to fill a small tank that can be safely removed, others have a build in the tank and the fire is linked to your pluming. If you are not sure please contact us. Another problem that can sometimes arise is that regular tap water is used instead of filtered water, which can sometimes, over time build up limescale and block the water flow.

Can I see the electric fires in operation before purchasing?

Absolutely! We encourage you to visit our showroom where you can see various models in operation, assess their features, and choose the one that best fits your needs and preferences. Our team can assist in planning your project and provide advice on your fire options.

Is it difficult to install an electric fire?

Installation varies depending on the type of electric fire. Wall-mounted and freestanding units are typically easier to install. We recommend professional installation for built-in models to ensure proper and safe setup.

How realistic are the flame effects in electric fires?

Modern electric fires come with advanced technology that creates very realistic flame effects. Many models offer adjustable colors and brightness to mimic the look of real flames. Visit our showroom today to discover 400+ fireplaces on live display.

Are electric fires safe to use around children and pets?

Yes, electric fires are generally safer than traditional fires since they don’t produce real flames. The heating elements are typically well-contained, and many models have cool-to-touch surfaces. But please be vigilant, high heat from an electric fire, like any other fire, can cause injury.

Do electric fires need a chimney or vent?

No, electric fires do not require a chimney or venting system. This makes them an ideal choice for homes without existing chimneys or for rooms where installing a chimney is not feasible. Electric fires are also easier to control the temperature as it can be easily switched on/off repeatedly.

Can an electric fire be used as the main source of heat?

Electric fires are excellent for supplemental heating and can be used as the main heat source in smaller homes. However, for larger spaces or as a primary heat source for your home, you might need additional heating solutions. Please contact our team for specialist advice.

Do electric fires require a lot of maintenance?

One of the main advantages of electric fires is their low maintenance. They don’t produce ash or soot like traditional wood or gas fires, eliminating the need for regular cleaning of the fire itself and the chimney.

Are electric fires energy-efficient?

Yes, electric fires are known for their energy efficiency. They convert almost all the energy they use into heat, meaning less waste and lower running costs compared to traditional fires. Even with today’s high energy prices.

What types of electric fires are available at Washington Fireplace Centre?

We offer a wide range of electric fires, including wall-mounted units, freestanding electric stoves, built-in electric fires, electric fireplace suites, and electric fire inserts. Each type comes in various styles and designs to suit different home decors.
