Fire Surrounds

Is my limestone surround pink?

Water is used when cutting and crafting your surround. When limestone is fresh from the quarry there can be a slight tinge to the stone and the colour can be slightly off. This is 100% normal and once the material is fully dry the colour should match. Limestone is a natural material and a 100% match to our display model is not guaranteed.

How many fires do you have on display?

As of now, we have 400+ fires and 60+ mediawalls on live display in our showroom. This number can change month to month as we’re continuously producing more, replacing displays with new and updating existing displays. If you need to know if we have something specific on display please give us a call.

Where does your natural limestone come from?

All of our natural limestone surrounds are mined and crafted in Portugal. Many manufacturers of high-end products import their limestone from Portugal.

Do you fit carpets?

We do not provide or install carpets. If the carpet has to be pulled back or cut to install your fireplace or media wall, your carpet fitter will need to reinstall. You should be notified of this after your initial survey.

What is my warranty period?

Your warranty period can vary depending on the brand of the product and the individual product itself. Most warranties are held with the manufacturer and not Washington Fireplaces. All items come with a standard 12-month warranty but many products offer extended 2-year warranties, or 10-year warranties with conditions such as proof of a yearly service. Some extended warranties after some time may only cover the cost of parts and not installation. We will provide you with warranty terms in our showroom for a specific product. All products that are manufactured by Washington Fireplaces come with a standard 12 months parts warranty.

Why does my marble not look the same as in the showroom?

Each piece/type of marble is unique and each type of marble has different characteristics. No two pieces of marble can ever be the same. Some marbles and stones may have slightly different characteristics, but these are not defects. (some natural materials even have fossils, but generally discarded during) manufacturing.

Why does my limestone not look the same as in the showroom?

Portuguese limestone is a natural stone cut straight from the earth. The stone is a sedimentary limestone with characteristic darker veins and a lighter background, intermingled with fossils and blooms. All of our limestone surrounds are constructed from Portuguese limestone, which is a natural material so each piece is unique and will contain veining, fossils, and ‘blooms’ which are not defects.

Can I see the fire surrounds in person before making a decision?

Certainly! We encourage you to visit our showroom to view our extensive range of fire surrounds. Seeing them in person can help you get a better idea of their textures, colors, and how they might look in your home. Our helpful sales staff can guide you through the details and offer advice on your project.

Do fire surrounds help with heat efficiency?

Yes, fire surrounds can help contain the heat and distribute it more evenly throughout the room, enhancing the efficiency of your fireplace. This has been done for hundreds of years using large stones.

How do I maintain and clean my fire surround?

The maintenance of your fire surround depends on the material. For most surrounds, a damp cloth can be used for cleaning. We recommend avoiding harsh chemicals, especially on natural stone or wood. We can provide specific care instructions based on the surround you choose.

Can fire surrounds be custom-made to fit specific dimensions?

Absolutely. We offer bespoke fire surround services where we can tailor the size, material, and design to fit your specific requirements and dimensions. We have designed thousands of fireplaces and media walls, visit our showroom to browse the latest trends and elegant classics.

Are your fire surrounds heat resistant?

Yes, all our fire surrounds are made from heat-resistant materials, ensuring they are not only stylish but also functional and safe. The hearth also plays an important part in keeping you safe.
